Have you noticed the vast amount of coverage on the TV lately about loneliness? So many folk, old and young in our communities are facing long days without conversation. We have a range of activities across the Circuit to which we could easily invite folk to just to ease that isolation. 
Why not offer to take a neighbour to something? (for lunches it might be wise to phone first – but I am sure you will be made very welcome!!)

Fri 20th - Sunday 22nd
MWiB Residential Weekend, The Hayes Conference Centre, Swanwick, Derbyshire, DE55 1AU, Cost £170 ‘Oceans of Justice, Rivers of Fairness’. If you have never been to Swanwick because of the cost then you might like to apply for a bursary of £150 which leaves £20 for you to pay.  There are a number of these available so if you would like the experience then please take this opportunity.  Arrival and registration on Friday 4.00pm - 6.30pm, Programme starts with dinner at 6.45pm on Friday  and ends after lunch at 2.00pm on Sunday. Session 1 Daniel Chapters 1 & 2, Compromising with evil - 3 ‘Sees’; Session 2 - Daniel Chapters 3 & 4, 3 friends take centre stage - Nebuchadnezzar's turn; Session 3 - Daniel Chapters 5 & 6, Can you tell me the way to Hell please? Which 'Den' are you in?

Keynote Speaker: The Rt Revd James Jones KBE Former Bishop of Liverpool Closing Address: Canon Dr Jill Hopkinson CofE National Rural Officer. The day will include a choice of several workshops on aspects of rural ministry. OPEN TO ALL – Why not come as a group from your parish or benefice?

Circuit Services:
The 5th Sunday of the month, there are a range of services across the circuit  to which you are invited. Morning services at:
Pickering: Easter Offering Service  with Revd Tony de Boltz;  

Malton: Ecumenical service at St Michael's Malton with Revd Tanya Short;  

Kirkbymoorside morning worship with Revd Ruth Duck.

Also Rievaulx (see below) and Kirkdale LEP. Evening services at  Norton Bethel, Sinnington and Rievaulx. See plan for details.

Fri - Sun  4th-6th
 Pickering Wedding Festival. This will begin on Friday evening at 7.00pm Light refreshments, including fruit punch and nibbles will be served. There will a picture quiz “Guess the bride” and Mary Bradford and Martin Redgard will be singing a number of songs.  The church will be open so that the displays can be viewed. On Saturday the display of wedding memorabilia and dresses will be open from 10.00am. There will be organ recitals at intervals during the day and videos of weddings that took place in Pickering chapel. Afternoon tea will be served from 4.30pm. Christian Aid Walk/ Pilgrimage to York Minister. John and Nancy Eckersley ( See have organised a walk from Filey to York Minster for a Christian Aid project in Ghana. The walk follows the Coastliner bus route and you can join it at any stage. Peter and Janice Clark are hoping to walk Whitwell – Harton on Thursday 10 May and will catch the 9.07 bus from Malton. If you would like to join any part of the route please contact John Eckersley :

Pentecost Party. As part of the Thy Kingdom Come initiative the Methodist Church is arranging for four beacon events around the Connexion. Our regional event will be in Leeds (venue tbc) on Pentecost Sunday,  Worship will be led by Stuart Townend and the preacher will be Mrs Jill Baker (Vice President of Conference). As a circuit we are looking into the possibility of a bus going to Leeds for this event - saving on the worry of driving and parking. We would leave the circuit between 1 and 1.30, depending on pick up points. Please let Ann know if you would be interested at

. The Action For Children Fundraising Committee are hosting a  Talent Concert. WE NEED TALENT - THERE IS PLENTY IN RYEDALE!! Can you sing, dance, recite prose or a poem, gather a group to perform a sketch or play an instrument? 7.00pm An Evening with Bobby Ball at Rievaulx Methodist Church.  Bobby Ball from Cannon and Ball fame has been sharing his faith in God since 1997 and churches throughout Great Britain are reporting many people finding faith in Jesus Christ through his obedience.   In his own comedy style Bobby testifies how God has changed his life and speaks on real issues in a way that can be easily understood.
